Close Encounters of the Third Kind (re-release)

In celebration for its 40th anniversary, Close Encounters of the Third Kind will abduct theaters for 1 week only and play it in 4K restoration and directors cut. Richard Dreyfus, Melinda Dillon, and Bob Balaban star is this sci-fi flick.  The great Steven Spielberg directed this one, as we all know.  Spielberg’s next directorial features are Ready Player One, The Post (starring Tom Hanks), and an Untitled Indiana Jones Project.  Must not forget about the animated Spielberg’s Closet, brought to you by Binge Media.  Now, go check out Close Encounters of the 4Kind this weekend.

Tulip Fever

Tulip Fever tells the story of a 17th Century artist who falls in love with a young married woman while he’s ordered to paint her portrait.  Starring in this romance drama are Alicia Vikander, Dane DeHann (Chronicle), Cara Delevingne (Suicide Squad), Zach Galifianakis, Christoph Waltz, Judi Dench, and more.  Directing this period piece flick is Justin Chadwick.  Chadwick has directed The Other Boleyn Girl, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, and more.  I got a fever, and the only prescription is more cowb….Tulip Fever.

A CIA interrogator must stop a biological terrorist attack in the UK, however, there are some twisty turnys along the way.  Noomi Rapace stars, while the rest of the cast includes, Orlando Bloom, Toni Collette, Michael Douglas, John Malkovich, and more.  Great cast.  Michael Apted is the director of this action drama.  Apted has directed The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The World Is Not Enough, Gorky Park, and more.  Go Unlock your car, and hit the road to a theater near you.

Reasons to see this:

Get Out tells the story of an African-American man who visits his Caucasian girlfriend’s mysterious family estate.  Starring in this horror flick are Allison Williams (Girls), Lakeith Stanfield (Straight Outta Compton),  Catherine Keener, Bradley Whitford, Daniel Kaluuya (Sicario), and more.  Jordan Peele, yup, of Key and Peele directs this horror movie.  This is his first time directing.  Now Get Out of the house and hit the theater.

The Girl with All the Gifts

Reasons to see this:

Setting, a dystopian future, where a fungal disease has spread amongst the human race.  A doctor and a school teacher form a bond with a special child and embark on a journey of survival.  Starring in this horror thriller are Gemma Arterton, Glenn Close, Paddy Considine (The Bourne Ultimatum), and more.  Colm McCarthy is the director of this flick.  McCarthy has directed several episodes of Peaky Blinders, as well as a ton of other TV.  What do you get a girl with all the gifts?  Tickets to see this movie in theaters.

Rock Dog

Reasons to see this:

Sup dawg.  When a Tibetan Mastiff finds a radio, (or does the radio find him), he leaves home to fulfill his dream of becoming a musician.   Lending their voice to this animated feature are Luke Wilson, Eddie Izzard, J.K. Simmons, Lewis Black, Matt Dillon, Sam Elliot, and more.  Ash Brannon is the director of this flick.  Brannon has directed Surf’s Up and co-directed Toy Story 2.  If you can’t hold a beat dawg, then go see Rock Dog this weekend.

American Pastoral

Based on the Pulitzer Prize-Winning Novel, American Pastoral tells the story of a middle class family who’s lives start crumbling due to their daughter’s radical political affiliation.  Starring in this crime drama is Ewan McGregor (imagine Jim Law saying it – Euuuaan McGgggegor), Jennifer Connelly, Dakota Fanning, David Strathairn and more.  Not only is Ewan McGregor the star of this film, he’s actually the director.  This is his first directorial feature film.  Be a good American and see American Pastoral this weekend.

Boo! A Madea Halloween

Tyler Perry is back with another Madea movie.  He’s the writer, producer, actor, and director of this Horredy.  If you are a fan of these movies, then go check this out.

Jack Reacher: Never Go Back

TC is back!!!  Cruise returns as Jack Reacher for the 2nd time.  This time, Reacher must clear his name from a government conspiracy, as well as uncover secrets from his past.  Cobie Smulders also stars in this gritty action flick.  Edward Zwick is the writer and the director of this sequel.  Zwick has directed Glory, Courage Under Fire, The Last Samurai, Blood Diamond, and Defiance.  Don’t Reach for the remote.  Go Back to the theater.

Keeping Up with the Joneses

Keeping Up is about an everyday normal couple who gets brought into an international espionage plot by their neighbors, who aren’t who they appear to be.  Dun dun dunnnn.  The players in this action comedy are, Gal Gadot, Isla Fisher, Zach Galifianakis, Jon Hamm, Patton Oswalt, Matt Walsh, and more.  Greg Mottola is the director on this film.  Mottola’s last 4 films are, Superbad, Adventureland, Paul, and Clear History.  If you’re trying to keep up with the new comedies that hit theaters, then go check this one out.

Ouija: Origin of Evil

Reasons to see this:

Wee-Gee 2.  However, I think this is a prequel.  So, Wee Gee 1?  Anyway…..Los Angeles, 1967, a mother and her daughter invite evil into their home to help their seance scam business, but things obviously go wrong when the daughter becomes possessed.  Boom.  The cast for this horror film are, Lin Shaye, (Insidious crossover? Doubt it), Doug Jones, (Pan’s Labyrinth crossover? Nah), Annalise Basso, (Oculus crossover? Probably not), Kate Siegel, Henry Thomas and more.  Writing and directing is Mike Flanagan.  Flanagan has directed Absentia, Oculus, and Hush.  If you liked the first one, then go see this one.
