Things are getting mighty interesting as we pass the halfway in the season mark, and begin to run out of source material. Jim Law and I talk about this milestone, and then start quoting Teen Wolf when discussing the Stark kids’ direwolves. It’s that kind of show. Stay tuned to the After the Credits sequence in which I blow Jim Law’s mind with various ASOAIF theories.
If there’s anything we learned from this week’s Game of Thrones is that Law and I equally hate scorpions. Like, really, really, hate scorpions. This is the most interesting episode of the fifth season so far. Theories based on past ASOIAF events are discussed, gay dudes are gay bashed, and Jon Snow likes another ginger. He may not know anything, but he does know he likes that ginger bush. Classy.
Also, this is the exact image of every 14 year old boy who’s been denied sex once he’s had it. Poor Tommen. Weep on your throne.
We’re back this week with Kupka (Wasupka) substituting for Law, who is down in Dorne playing in the water gardens. We focus a lot more on the books during the commentary, noting subtle and overt changes from the source material, but don’t worry, it doesn’t get too spoilery until we have our After the Credits book spoilery talk.
Let this be the new phrase that we use to greet Fuuuuckin’ Kupka in the Binge Community. Why? It is explained in this week’s jam packed BingeCast.
Law and myself start off by discussing some Hottie Fantasy League updates and transition into TV Round Up where we discuss Veep, Silicon Valley, and The Last Man on Earth.
After we listen to the first Drunk Segment on Dog Spiders, Garrett Collins joins us to talk about the experience of world premiering his first movie Refuge, directed by Teddy Gyi. What a great perspective Garrett brings to the discussion. Both Law and I realized that we wouldn’t have half of Garrett’s professionalism if we attended the premiere. We’re idiots.
Ammon then joins, we listen to another another drunk segment, then dive right into What Did You Watch This Week. Law review Wish I Was Here, while Garrett takes on Sheik, Blue Ruin, Starry Eyes, and a revisit of Jaws. Has there ever been anyone who dislikes Jaws? I’ll kill them. Ammon checks out A Million Ways to Die in the West, and revisits Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and Police Academy, which leads to a discussion on the amazingness of “The Gutt”. I scope out a couple documentaries called All This Mayhem (phenomenal) and Atari: Game Over (Ehhhhh). We play the rest of the Drunk Segs and then we’re out!
Ladies and gentleman, look at the most chokable face in all of Westeros. Imagine having to have sex with that every day, worried about whether or not you’re pleasing the lioness as she stares daggers into your soul. No wonder King Robert Baratheon, First of His Name, had 47 bastards.
Let’s face it folks, Winter is NOT Coming and this deeply depresses Jim Law. It’s okay buddy, The North Remembers. We find this episode to have no less than 3 incredibly cheesy moments although it’s great to see Ser Bronn of the Blackwater back, dressing all snazzy. Don’t forget to hear our book spoiler discussion in the After the Credits sequence.
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the Game of Thrones weekly commentaries on Binge Media! It’s like old times again as Law and myself crack the mics, polish off some booze and launch into the season 5 premiere of GoT.
As a reminder, after the actual commentary of the episode (in a segment we call “After the Credits Sequence), we discuss the variations the show takes from the books, what’s missing and what’s new, and why Tyrion is such a drunk asshole.
See that shit? That’s Samurai Moreno. And the context of this picture rules.
Bansheecapped off its third season in, once again, spectacular fashion. It’s a show that not only knows it wants but takes what it wants without apologizing for it. Fans of the show know this.
Samurai Moreno knows this.
Look at him.
We couldn’t wait to get to this final commentary for the season and it shows. Law, Brother Chris and myself had a few predictions last episode, so there was a lot on the line (nothing was on the line).Pretty close on some, complete let down on others. I’ll blame myself. Then hide it with booze.
Stay tuned for Game of Thronescommentaries in April. Past commentaries HERE.
After starting the commentary by saying how much I hated this episode, I’m quickly turned around by Jim Law and Brother Chris’ love for it, as I have no backbone and/or original thoughts of my own. We basically boil down this episode to a single prediction: who’s going to eat a bullet and join Big Face in that great, giant face accepting, place in the sky. We have a feeling it’s going to be a major character on the “heist” team, however we don’t believe it’s Not Hood. Figure it out people.
Goddammit Banshee. You really know how to mess with a guy’s emotions. In his week’s Banshee, we learn that Bow Tie has been Varys from Game of Thrones the whole time, Giant Head still has an after life presence as a Mardi Gras float in New Orleans, and Colonel Crazy is….indeed crazy. Get it!
