BMFMLCast – 2017 Rule Changes & Details
2017 Binge Media Fantasy Movie League
Hello everyone, and welcome to the 2017 Binge Media Fantasy Movie League, or better known as the BMFML! For those of you who are returning to play again, welcome! For those of you just joining in on the fun, welcome to you as well. We have some big changes for this season and, due to feedback from the listeners, are going to implement these changes sooner rather than later. While all of this information is contained in the podcast seen below, this will exist as a running list of the rules and regulations for the league so that you can reference this easily throughout the season.

From Draft Boards to Daily Fantasy
So this is probably the biggest change we have decided to make, but ultimately this is something that we think will make a lot of you happy. Whereas in years past we had a complete draft board that needed to be created prior to the actual draft, this year we are deciding to throw that out and allow anyone who wants to participate to simply submit their team. That’s right, no more worrying about having your picks taken by someone else because everyone who plays will be allowed to pick whoever they want. This takes the research element out for those of you who don’t want to engage in that, but it rewards those who did put the time in to have a leg up. Speaking of the teams, we’re making a big change there too as well…

6 Actors/Actresses, 2 Directors, 2 Movies (10 Total Picks)
Picks can be for two movies, two directors and six actors or actresses. There is no required set of actors and actresses needed, simply pick who you think will get you the most points. This means teams can be comprised of six actors, or six actresses, or two actors and four actresses, or five actors and one actress. You get the picture. Customize your team the way you want it, and submit your 10 picks by the new due date (detailed below).

Captain Pick
This is another new element of the game this year. When you submit your team, if you’d like, you can specify the “Captain” pick for your team. What does this mean? At the end of the season, if the “Captain” of your team is the highest point-getter, you will receive a bonus 25 points to your grand total. If you do not specify a Captain, your first pick will be designated as your team Captain. This is a neat way to add some bonus points to your totals at the end of the season, so be sure to specify your captain when submitting your team if you’d like to partake in this element of the game!

Pre-Ranked List of Actors/Actresses
Many of you have expressed a desire for a pre-ranked list, so we’re giving it to you. By the end of this week, we will have a link up for you detailing our personally ranked top 100 picks. What this means is the research that we’re doing for the league is getting passed on to all you! For those of us who play fantasy sports, this was an element that we were missing in years passed and, thankfully, have implemented for this new season. The link should be up by the end of the week.

Submission Date/League Date
As with all these new rule changes, we are changing the submission date to allow for those of you who have not submitted anything to submit your team. The new submission date is 12PM CST on Saturday, March 11. This means the old submission due date of February 28 is no longer valid and we will accept team submissions up until the new due date. We think this will give everyone enough time to put their squad together and get it submitted by then.
***IMPORTANT NOTE*** We will still be tallying points fromMarch 1st to December 31st, even though your submissions will be a few weeks past that. -
Point Allocations
These will be this year’s point totals for the league. There are some changes from last season, so be sure to study this listing before submitting your team.

Have Fun!
Ultimately we have made these changes for you, the listeners, to have a good time. This is the first of many monthly podcasts where we will keep you informed of what’s going on with the rankings, picks and movies. We want the league to be competitive and we hope these changes to the format, while radically taking the league in a different direction, will encourage a new level of strategy and shit-talk. Submit any and all questions regarding the league to BingeGameCast@Gmail.com and be sure to get your team in today!
***DISCLAIMER***To reiterate, teams that are submitted incorrectly will have their picks made by us for you. This is non-negotiable after the due date.
