This week’s show has tales from Ammon’s Korn roadie days, a couple great voicemails and tons of talk about Game of Thrones, JURASSIC WORLD, SOAKED IN BLEACH, SUPERMENSCH, A.I., SUCKER PUNCH, INGLORIOUS BASTARDS, TAXI DRIVER, and BETTER OFF DEAD. I wish this summary could be longer but I’m a giant hungover polar bear that hates life right now. Take it or leave it. Don’t leave it, we love you. I can’t stop pooping.
PeteMC joins me this morning as we attack a few music documentaries. Or rockumentaries, if you will. Both of us are pretty hammered in this episode, so just be forewarned as we consistently laugh at our own jokes, lose our train of thought, and burp.
Thunder Soul, Shut up and Play the Hits and 20 Feet From Stardom are all available on Netflix.
It’s a band that’s been together for too long for too many years and played too many gigs too many times.
Cohesion…
…more like NO…….hesion
Know what I mean?
Didn’t think so.
PeteMC, MovieFreak, myself and my good friend and Beatles professor Rob, attack this show with our favorite 15 Beatles songs and albums, and also play Dream Producer by creating our theme/concept album for the lads.
Things are for the most part on the positive tick, but as the drinks flow, and we get further into the show, controversy rears its ugly head. Here are our Top 15. If you hate it, shut up.
Somewhere I have heard this before In a dream my memory has stored As defense I’m neutered and spayed What the hell am I trying to say?
After very successful episodes of Monday Morning Moreno’s Musical Mayhem (not a thing) with TM (Radiohead Ok Computer album review) and Oh Hai Denny Luis (Epic Oasis Album Review), Supka and I decided to use the format for the Binge MusicCast. It burns us out sometimes to listen to a bunch of new shit and talk about it every two weeks. A gestation period is required to properly absorb all of the nuances of a new record.
That’s why we’re going to focus on either a single artist or album per episode. This allows us to talk in depth about a subject without having to feel we need to keep moving the show forward. It’s more relaxing, shut up. Sorry for yelling.
Both Supka and I are pretty big Nirvana fans (it’s my second favorite band of all time), but we both were exposed to Nirvana and came to love Nirvana in different ways. We discuss this in the episode.
And for the OCD Nirvana fan, yes we refer to Sappy as Verse Chorus Verse, which is a different (and far inferior) song. This is because the No Alternative compilation that was released in the early 90s incorrectly listed the song as Verse Chorus Verse. I grew up calling it Verse Chorus Verse and it’s hard to break that habit. Also, I didn’t have the fucking internet in 93 to verify the goddamn song title so give me a break. Not sorry for yelling this time.
Enjoy!

and as i close my eyes and the sky turns red i realise just what you are you’re an idlers dream and you’re singing shangri la
I consider myself to be a pretty big Oasis fan. I loved them since the first album and followed them pretty consistently until the last album or so. After having many a conversation with BingeCast listener and Def Poetry Jam’s own Denny Luis, I decided to have him on as a special guest co-host to talk all things Oasis.
Let me tell you something, if you’re a fan of Oasis, you’re definitely going to want to tune in to this episode. We go through every album and track the progression of the band’s sound and songwriting. Denny comes prepared with a shit load of information about every album that overloads my mind, in a good way.
We then cap off the album discussion by ranking our favorite albums and then giving our top 10 songs with some honorable mentions. You can check those out right here. The contrast of both of our lists is a good indication of how we approached making our lists, but just how diverse, despite popular belief, the band can be.
Enjoy!

Welcome back to another edition of Monday Morning Moreno! I couldn’t be happier to be joined by special guest co-host TM, creator of the infamous “I love you Jon Snow!!!” meme that permeates these digital halls of Binge Media. TM is a huge of Game of Thrones fan and wanted to pop in and discuss the ups and downs, ins and outs of the show and to a greater extent, the novels themselves.
I get a little worried sometimes that Game of Thrones talk-especially with the commentaries now-may be redundant and repetitive on the various podcasts we produce but goddamn do I love talking about it. And especially with A) people who love the show and 2) people who have read the books. I can seriously talk about the books for hours. And have.
The other reason why I got TM on the podcast is to discuss an album that I’ve been listening to lately and that we both hold in high regard, Radiohead’s OK Computer. It’s seriously one of my ten favorite albums of all time. During Lawlapalooza 2014 when TM and PeteMC were in town, an impromptu OK Computer jam broke out that ranks in one of my favorite, spontaneous moments ever. So knowing he also loved this album led to a great conversation.
This week I have a very special guest on Monday Morning Moreno, a man who I’ve known for quite some time but is a complete stranger on this kind of show. His name is Jim Law and he’s bravely battling CanadiAIDS. I will make him a quilt.
After briefly discussing the Netflix original series BLOODLINE on this week’s BingeCast, I wanted to have Law on to discuss, in detail and with full spoilers, the first season of the show. We start off with an overall discussion of the show, its highs and lows, its premise, then delve right into what an unbelievably amazing performance Ben Mendelsohn turned in as Danny Rayburn. The guy oozes vileness, seediness and slithering charm consistently throughout the show.
We talk about what could possibly happen in the second season and agree that if they just left this as one season, we’d all be the better for it.
Welcome to the very first ever Monday Morning Moreno podcast. Isn’t that CRAZY!? First one ever!
No, for real, stop playing around. This week I had listener/contributor/best buddy PeteMC join the podcast to talk documentaries. He just recently had seen the Ebert documentary “Life Itself” and the John Milius documentary “Milius“, and being a huge documentary fan I couldn’t wait to discuss those films. And as things progress, we wind up talking about some of our favorite documentaries including Exit Through the Gift Shot, Hoop Dreams, Man on Wire, and Grizzly Man.
Being an absolute asshole, I completely forget to talk about one of my favorite documentaries, The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia. Seriously. So. Good.
Towards the conclusion of the podcast we focus a bit on music documentaries and finally we’re out.
Hope you guys enjoy this overview of some of the best documentaries ever. As always, if you want to add to the conversation, call 708-406-9546, and let us know your favorite documentaries or if you have another talking point or want to be a co-host. Come on, don’t be a pussy.
Yes, it’s that time of year again, the one day where everyone gets to feel like they have a little Irish in ’em. St. Patrick’s Day is, like all other holidays, an excuse to drink, and while we here at Binge Media scoff at the idea of “just drinking on holidays”, it’s easy to forget that there are many folks who absolutely loved the holiday for what it represented to them: their Irish heritage. Yeah, it’s bastardized and commercialized, as all holidays are, but on St. Patrick’s Day I don’t make a special point to drink or go out. I usually think about my Grandad, the man whose namesake I carry on (he was Jr., I’m IV) and who, in his own way, proudly wore his heritage on his sleeve. How, you may ask, does a red-blooded Irishman enjoy his people’s holiday? Well, I’ll tell you…
Do the Dew, indeed. Grandad’s been gone for a few years now but every 17th of March I make a special point to crack open my bottle of this angelic nectar and throw one back for the old man. Tullamore Dew was his drink of choice and it makes for a nice accent to a well-made meal. Speaking of which…
Corned-beef and cabbage is the staple here but I must admit I can’t stand the stuff. Any meat that isn’t properly murdered and cooked before being served is questionable at best. Call me Ron Swanson but I need my beef dead, dead and then charred before I’ll touch it. Rather, I go with old reliable:
In the same vein of there being multiple ways to skin a cat, I go for the luscious Pastrami sandwich. The one pictured above would do, but I have my own special method for grilling the rye bread and adding the thinly sliced Clausen pickles INSIDE of the sandwich that really drive this sucker into the endzone. Call me sentimental but every year all I can ever think of is Grandad and how he used to celebrate the holiday, and while it’s great to go out and get shitfaced from time-to-time, I choose to honor my Grandad and drink responsibly. Maybe it’s not as glitzy and glamorous as all you fuckers out there were expecting but I feel like it’s the proper amount of celebration for a holiday such as this.
Now that that’s done with, time to talk shop. Ladies and germs, welcome to the 2015-2016 Hottie Draft! All you fuckers are gonna burn this year! If it wasn’t for Said Helal I would have taken all y’all BabaDIIICK munches with ease, and if you think this year is any different guess again. I can understand you’re all full of hope and promise, but anyone in the BABADIIICK Division better be on notice: you’re competing against Binge Media’s Sons of Anarchy Prediction Contest Champion, to say nothing of the glorious Patriots victory (Ammon and TM can suck it) that will continue into the next football season. Yes, be ready for my BABADIIICKING of y’all bitches.
On a more serious note, this year I’ve decided to bequeath all of you with a special bonus for being in the draft. I will be creating Facebook banners for the Hottie Draft featuring your team name (which will be the name the guys gave you in the original announcement posting on the site) and your three hottie selections. What I need from YOU is to contact me via Facebook (Jack Falvey IV) and PM me if you want a banner. I won’t go through and do them if you don’t ask, so get on that shit if you want in! They will look sick and will provide ample dinner conversation as well, so it’s a win-win-win for everyone.
Next week I have some time to myself and I will be catching up completely on Banshee and possibly some flicks, but I would also like to mention my PSN gamertag is MovieFreak4702 and if anyone has Helldivers, hit me up, yo! Binge On!
