Week 5 in the NFL…to quote a great Sasquatch hunter, “what the F&$k is happening right now”…More playoff baseball talk, as the Yankees are fighting for their lives while we record the show. A Little college football sprinkled in, along with BSV’s. They finish up with their Week 6 Picks.

It’s the return of the 4 hour show with The Winstons!
A couple of us saw A Star is Born (got Gaggs?). The Endless, American Animals, Slice, Hotel Artemis, and Netflix’s documentary on Quincy Jones is reviewed. Some asshole named Ammon reviews Mandy during Google Voice. Channel Zero is good. Mayans (Youans) is compared to Animal Kingdom, Ozark and Jason Bateman get shit on, and we all yell at each other because we’re drunk assholes. So just another BingeCast.
The Boys are fired up to discuss NFL’s week 4 games, so much so that they start off talking MLB playoffs. TM’s week 4 Soundaaa gets the NFL talk going. They finish up with their Week 5 Picks.

The penultimate episode of the fourth season is the best we’ve seen of Better Call Saul this year. All of the story lines are progressing at a nice clip and coming to a head.
In what has become a yearly tradition, Binge Media was invited to Columbia, Missouri (Visit Columbia, MO) to cover the Roots N Blues N BBQ festival. The festival has quickly become one of my favorites. From the amazing food, to the amazing bands and musicians, to that good ol’ Midwestern hospitality, RNBNBBQ is the chillest festival I’ve ever been to.
Chris Prunckle, my old buddy from Wannabe The Comic, joins me in recapping each day of this year’s festivities, including our highlights and who we thought won this year’s festival.
October has finally arrived! Bring on the horror movies. Batch joins Pete as they sit and watch the kinda cult horror classic Sleepaway Camp from 1983. Find out what they think about the clothes, the hair, the kills, the acting, the effects, etc. If you have not seen this movie yet, go find a copy, watch it, then come back and listen to the commentary. Enjoy.
And a happy Vurpiversary to you. Law rounds up PJ and Garrett to celebrate everything VURP, review some movies, watch some television, answer some emails, and drink. A quality night for anybody. Except Garrett because he hates the VURP. He hates that the VURP is more popular than him. Sexier than him. And gets laid more than him. VURP for president.
The idea seemed like a simple one. With Rocky having defeated Russia in Rocky IV, brothers/writers Jim and John Thomas wondered what was left for him to face and conquer. You add the caveat of an alien being dropped off on earth to hunt, and you have the initial ingredients of the Predator franchise. Being kicked off by opponents Arnold Schwarzeneggar and his band of commandos in 1987, the Predator character has lived on in movies, comics, and video games. With writer/director Shane Black bringing the character back to the screen this month, I bring Matt and Alyx on to look at the cinematic incarnations of the character, and cap it off with a look at The Predator, determining whether he has been used up to its full potential.
It took twenty years for someone to step up and bring the Predator back in a film within his own franchise (let’s face it, the AvP films don’t count). That someone was Robert Rodriguez, and in 1994 he wrote a treatment that would eventually be spiced up by another team of writers and turned into 2010’s Predators. How did they do? How’s Adrien Brody in the Ah-nold role? How well did Laurence Fishbourne eat while hiding from Predators? We discuss all that and more, below.
Shane Black, as is established on the podcast, is very well liked within the Binge offices. The guy has had quite the show business career. But some people do not know that he started as a member of Dutch’s team in the original Predator, as the then up and coming writer was brought on by John McTiernan to not only play Hawkins, but also to maybe spice up the script. Cut to 2018. He is now in charge of the latest entry, The Predator. But bad press and a once again tweaked by 20th Century brass shoot has all been blamed for a decent, but not great showing by the movie at the box office. Is all of the bad press warranted? Listen below as all of us have our own opinions on it, and share whether there is a good film to be had here.
And that covers yet another retrospective here at the Aftertaste. As always, I’d like to thank my co-hosts for bringing their A-game, and be sure to listen as I give the schedule for the rest of the year. Note: people who like hearing Matt be tortured are going to love it.
Here’s this week’s commentary! PJ fills in for Alyx, and he and TM discuss the latest episode of Better Call Saul. They both have theories as to where the 3 main plot lines are headed. 2 Episodes left!
