Kubo and the Two Strings
Reasons to see this:
Set in ancient Japan, this stop motion animated movie is about a young boy(Kubo) on a journey to find his late fathers magical armor, in order to defeat evil. I’m guessing the two strings(the trailer shows 3 strings) on his guitar have powers as well, once the armor is on of course. Charlize Theron, Ralph Fiennes, George Takei, Rooney Mara, and Matthew McConaughey lend their voices to these amazing puppets. This is Travis Knights’ first directing credit, however he was the lead animator for Coraline, ParaNorman, and Boxtrolls. Go check out this animated family adventure this weekend.

It’s about time Jimmy O got his ass back to the BingeCast so I blackmailed him just enough to convince him. I have some very revealing Comic Con pictures of the man.
Jimmy sits down with me for a one-on-one about his new project THE HARVESTERS, the state of online film criticism, his best and worst of the year so far, and much, much more. We also get reviews of BLAIR WITCH, KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS, DON’T BREATHE, WIENER, and SAUSAGE PARTY.
Moreno jumps on near the end to yell a lot and mix a drink.
0:02:10. No Moreno. No Ammon. Law is rolling solo then, right? WRONG. He’s got a very special guest by the name of Jimmy O. How about that guys? The two catch up on as much as they can before the meat of the podcast has to be attended to. The two of them discuss what Jimmy O is up to currently, Halloween movies, film reviews, internet trolls, and a lot more.
1:15:40-Law asks Jimmy what his favorite movie of the year is. Also, what did he think was dog shit?
1:22:49-J.O. is grilled about TV. He brings Stranger Things and Outlander. He really likes shows with judges. Law discusses 24, Night of, Smallville and Supernatural. Just note-all these programs are discussed rather briefly.
1:29:26-Would Suicide Squad be better with Tom Hardy? This leads to Jimmy O talking about his man crush on the actor.
1:38:42-WHAT DID YOU WATCH? Mr. O is thankfully allowed to talk about Blair Witch a bit. He moves onto Kubo and the Two Strings, along with Don’t Breathe. Law talks about a documentary detailing the scandal involving Anthony Weiner, titled Weiner. He moves from talking about Weiner to Sausage Party. Appropriate, right? Some asshole calls in after that with a great question. More tv talk. Another call. Doesn’t come through. Jimmy O just wants to talk about Tentacles. Moreno actually shows up via a phone call. Way to phone it in, dick. GET IT? The three just toss around what movies were good and which movies sucked this year, along with the best theater experiences. Good shit by everyone. Enjoy it. Then get the hell out.

96 time Academy Award nominated actress Meryl “Oscar” Streep plays Florence Foster Jenkins, a heiress who dreams to become an opera singer, despite her awful singing voice. Stephen Frears is the director of this movie. Some of his other directorial films include, High Fidelity, The Queen, and Philomena. I do not have a clever line to end this one, so if this interests you, then go see it. Thats it.
Hell or High Water
Reasons to see this:
In this southern crime/drama, two brothers resort to extreme measures to save their family’s farm. The brothers are played by Chris Pine and Ben Foster, while the local sheriff is played by Jeff Bridges. David Mackenzie who seems to be familiar in the drama genre(based on his filmography), is the director of this film. If this seems like something you would be interested in, then get to the theater this weekend, come hell or high water.
Pete’s Dragon
Reasons to see this:
Disney’s remake of the 1977 film, entitled Pete’s Dragon is about Grace Meacham (played by Bryace Dallas Howard) who finds a boy(Pete) living in the woods with a dragon(Elliot). Grace and her father(played by Robert Redford) set out to uncover the boys identity and the story behind Elliot. Other cast members include, Wes Bentley, Karl Urban, and Oakes Fegley, who plays Pete. Directing this film is David Lowery, who has really only directed shorts and is directing a live-action Peter Pan movie(like we need another). In the mood for a live-action, Disney adventure story, then hit the theater to see My Dragon.
Sausage Party
Reasons to see this:
This R-rated CG animated Pixar-esque spoof is about supermarket groceries dreaming to be chosen by a shopper. However, they soon learn the truth about what happens after they’ve been bought. The cast includes, Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, Michael Cera, James Franco, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd, Salma Hayek, Edward Norton, and more. There are two directors at this sausage party, Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon. Vernons directorial filmography includes, Shrek 2, Monsters vs. Aliens, and Madagascar 3. Tiernan has really only directed a shit ton of Thomas and Friends movies. If you’re planning on going to a Sausage Party this weekend, go to the one at the theater. Unless you want the other thing. Up to you.
