Kong: Skull Island

Not much being released this weekend. I guess everyone is staying away from the giant ape. Anyway, yup, it’s a King Kong movie. Starring in this reboot/remake are Brie Larson, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, John C. Reilly, and more. Jordan Vogt-Roberts directs this giant ape flick. Vogt-Roberts directed The Kings of Summer and is rumored to be directing a Metal Gear Solid movie. Don’t monkey around. Go see Kong this weekend.
Kupka and Batch hold down the fort while Mr. Valley does his best student impression on way to graduation. (Early congrats sir!) The dynamic duo talk Escape Rooms, Humble Bundles, and PS Now. Batch may or may not have again talked Kupka into making a purchase. You’ll have to listen to find out. So go get on it.

Nope. This is not about the great Logan James that we know and love. This is about the Wolverine, that we know and love. Logan takes place in the near future, where he must care for Professor X while saving a young mutant from evil forces. Sounds like he has his claws full. Ba-dum-tss. Starring in this comic book action flick are Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Stephen Merchant, Doris Morgado (2 Guns), Dafne Keen, and more. James Mangold is the director of this flick. Mangold’s last four directorial films were Knight and Day, 3:10 to Yuma, Walk the Line, and Identity. Now go ask Logan if he wants to see Logan this weekend.
The Shack

Drink every time you read “the shack”. The Shack is about a grieving man who receives an invitation to meet with God at a place called The Shack. Starring in The Shack are Sam Worthington, Octavia Spencer, Tim McGraw (who wrote a song for The Shack soundtrack, Radha Mitchell (Silent Hill), and more. The director of The Shack is Stuart Hazeldine. Hazeldine wrote and directed the movie Exam. Don’t shack up in your place this weekend. Get out to the theater to see…..The Shack.

Reasons to see this:
An ex-maid of honor attends a wedding, even after being dumped by the best man. However, she is seated with random guests at Table 19. Starring in this dramedy are Anna Kendrick, Lisa Kudrow, Amanda Crew (Silicon Valley), Stephen Merchant, Craig Robinson, Tony Revolori (The PROTEJAAAY from The Grand “Pudabest” Hotel), and more. Jeffrey Blitz is the director of this wedding flick. Blitz has directed episodes of The Office (US), Rocket Science, and the documentary Spellbound. Not invited to any weddings this weekend? Then go see Table 19 in theaters.
Get Out tells the story of an African-American man who visits his Caucasian girlfriend’s mysterious family estate. Starring in this horror flick are Allison Williams (Girls), Lakeith Stanfield (Straight Outta Compton), Catherine Keener, Bradley Whitford, Daniel Kaluuya (Sicario), and more. Jordan Peele, yup, of Key and Peele directs this horror movie. This is his first time directing. Now Get Out of the house and hit the theater.

Starring in this horror thriller are Gemma Arterton, Glenn Close, Paddy Considine (The Bourne Ultimatum), and more. Colm McCarthy is the director of this flick. Sup dawg. When a Tibetan Mastiff finds a radio, (or does the radio find him), he leaves home to fulfill his dream of becoming a musician. Lending their voice to this animated feature are Luke Wilson, Eddie Izzard, J.K. Simmons, Lewis Black, Matt Dillon, Sam Elliot, and more. Ash Brannon is the director of this flick. Brannon has directed Surf’s Up and co-directed Toy Story 2. If you can’t hold a beat dawg, then go see Rock Dog this weekend.
Tulip Fever

Directing this period piece flick is Justin Chadwick. Chadwick has directed The Other Boleyn Girl and Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. I got a fever, and the only prescription is more cowb….Tulip Fever.

Gore Verbinski directs as he makes his return to the the dark thriller genre.
