Great retrospective guys. Loved it a lot as I too am a huge Batman fan. Very interesting. I also love that someone finally said Batman Forever is the worse Batman movie cause I totally agree with that.
But I did just have a quick comment that I was curious if either you guys have a opinion on.

Ok so Batman V Superman is a new reboot for the Batman character. It is also a sequel to Man of Steel, a movie that basically stole it’s tone from the Nolan Batman Trilogy and infused it into this new universe. So do you guys think that correlation is a detriment to the movie (having to keep in line with a series that is not part of its continuity) or do you think it boosts this movie as inspiration? Or do they just throw that out and go a totally different direction? (Which I’m not convinced Zack Snyder has the talent to do).

Anyway just an observation I was curious about. Honestly a little less exited for the Super Jesus retrospective but still looking forward too it.

And I couldn’t agree more with Jack, if this movie does Batman justice (no pun) it’ll be the only way it is a success. Because the rest just looks terrible.

I will say this: I like the fact that, in some bizarro way, Nolan’s universe informs Affleck’s characterization (at least from the trailers we’ve seen). I like the idea of a world-weary Batman and where they’re going. I don’t give a fuck about Superman. I love the first 3rd of the first Donner film as I think that is an absolutely perfect “origin of a superhero” story. The rest of the film is ok, but doesn’t hold a candle to that brilliant opening. Man of Steel was sort of a let down for me, so I think at the end of the day, as you stated and I said in the podcast, if it serves Batman well then we all win.
