Binge Movie Aftertaste w/ Our Tribute to Wes Craven; The Visit Review w/ Nathan Peterson
This week, the Binge Movie Aftertaste brings you its most off kilter show yet. With the recent passing of Wes Craven hitting us where it hurts, the lovely Jason Morris and I decided to give our own insights as to what he meant to us and cinema in general. We then call up longtime Binge Cast listener Nathan Peterson to tell us what he thought of the new M Night Shyamalan film The Visit. Peterson rewards us by continually making us hungry with mentions of his gig at Food Review UK. All of this while drinking. Aren’t we talented?
As mentioned above, the first 50 minutes or so of this podcast is spent with Jason and I mourning the sudden death of horror director Wes Craven. But what starts off as a loving tribute turns into probably our most heated on air conversation yet, as I question the merits behind people calling Craven a ‘master of horror,’ and Jason has good to great things to say about each film on his resume except one. Which one? You’ll have to listen to find out. Nonetheless, no matter how I feel about the quality of his overall resume, there is no denying the film world suffered a huge loss last week.
Proving that our show is unlike no other, we segue from a tribute to a departed director into a discussion about the one and only M Night Shyamalan, specifically his brand new horror/comedy The Visit. For help on this topic, we called Peterson. See, not only did he see a preview screening of the film, there was a Q & A session with Shyamalan that Peterson is more than happy to talk about. At least, what he remembers from it. All three of us give our overall views of Shyamalan as a director, and Jason grills us -without spoilers- about what to expect with The Visit.
Is it as bad as The Happening? Was The Happening even bad? Why am I talking like The Riddler? Listen to find out! Thanks a ton to Nate for taking a few minutes to talk to us about his M Night experience. Be sure to check out his reviews on the Food Review UK You Tube channel.
Note: Not only was Nathan suffering from ‘Great Brit-AIDS,’ for the first 7 minutes or so that he is on the air with us, his wifi was apparently suffering the same. Get through that little rough patch known as his intro, and you will be free to drink again without listening to Nate’s sound issues. Though there’s still his accent to deal with……
