Movie Freak and Garrett step in for Ammon and Moreno and don’t miss a beat as we cover everything from Lego to Val Kilmer’s filmography in this week’s BingeCast.
Things start with TV Round-Up and a solid summary of what’s going wrong and right with True Detective. We also lose our shit over Wet Hot American Summer: The First Day of Camp and discuss a little more Mr. Robot.
Literally Literary covers The Walking Dead, Broken Monsters, and Modern Romance before we break down exactly why we won’t be watching Fear the Walking Dead (or will we?).
What Did you Watch is packed more than ever with a revisit of WAYNE’S WORLD, and reviews of MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: ROGUE NATION, TRAINWRECK, DARK PLACES, THE WOLFPACK, LOST SOUL, and A LEGO BRICKUMENTARY.

The blind hate for The Walking Dead series is fucking stupid. I get why I don’t like it anymore, but when people say “it’s dumb.” and do not elaborate…doesn’t make sense. Also, Jack, you’ve never seen Kirkman in an interview or even seen what he looks like? Sounds like you’re trying to reinforce the fact you don’t like the show, or you’re just completely offline.
I don’t like the damn show because it simply isn’t expanding on the universe. The time frame in the show has been a couple of years, I think, and we’re still in the same location, give or take a hundred miles or so.
Plus, and I’ll defend this until the show is over, they lost me at killing Shane. You need to have two archetypal type characters in this type of situation in order to make things work. Now, you have Rick who apparently developed a split personality, trying to compensate for the lack of Shane.
Besides that, the human drama that this show tried so hard to push forward just isn’t there anymore. One other problem that I have is with Daryl, who I believe is going to turn gay in this next season. He has this “look” that came about i think in season 2 or 3 that has girl’s swooning for some reason. Then we get to their safe haven in the previous season and he doesn’t decide to clean up? Is the show seriously worried about Daryl and his physical appearance so much so that they would write his character into hating showers and being clean? It’s pandering to the audience at this point.
All that said, I’m going to watch the next season because of Alexandria and the inclusion of Ethan Embry. Knowing what I know about Alexandria and the madman who runs through, I can only hope that Daryl get’s what I feel he deserves.

Hey Steve,
Admittedly I’m not a fanboy. I enjoyed the comics up through (I think) the first 50 issues. The show absolutely tanked and, for me, has no real human stakes, hence my dislike for it. I tend to go for the laughs a little more on the podcasts so that’s where I’m coming from when I blindly write it off, but I think it’s an incredibly poorly written story without much purpose or reason.

It is very poorly done, which is why I always give up about half way into each season. I feel like I have to give it a shot mainly because I’m a sucker for anything zombies.
I’m excited for Fear The Walking Dead mainly because of the location change, and even Kirkman has said it’s nice to do something fresh. Also, regarding things Kirkman has said – the show has no planned ending. He said that it could easily go to season 50 if AMC keeps on picking it back up. He does know how it will end, though, which is basically “things start to get better” as he put it.
