Friday Night Law: 101 Damnations, Sons of Anarchy
101 Damnations
First off, thanks to Nathan Peterson for coming up with that amazing pun title above. If you listened to the Binge Cast last week (and why wouldn’t have you? Seriously, why?) you’d know that I got drunk again and started talking out of my ass. This week’s grand revelation was that I had decided to finally take part in one of those 31 Days of Halloween movie marathon thingies that I see all the cool kids doing every October. However, because I can’t simply do whatever everybody else is doing, I decided to amp up the viewing aspect to 101 horror movies in 31 days. It sounds ridiculous because it very much is so. As I try to come up with a way to approach the task things get complicated. The first problem that comes to mind is that I NEVER watch TV at home. There’s the occasional football/baseball/basketball game that I’ll throw on when my kids aren’t looking but other than that, nothing. The key is my job – eight hours a day building mini-vans, armed with my laptop and a hard drive. Realistically I could probably fit in 4-6 movies a night but that’s not going to be the case. I still have television to watch and I imagine I’m going to need a break from the filth and malevolence of horror film after horror film. What about Howard Stern? That’s usually four hours a night for me, Monday through Wednesday. See?!? See how many problems this is going to cause? Whatever, give me a couple more beers and I can do anything.
I started making the list last night. I have eight films ready to go so far. That’s good for what, two days? Fuck me…..
Yup, NYMPH is about a killer mermaid. That’s the type of shit I have to look forward to next month.
SONS
I’m having a blast with the last season of Sons of Anarchy. Not because I love the show but because it’s just so fun to make fun of during commentaries and to follow along with our Final Exam questionnaire. I’ve never cared so much about what Jax has to say every episode. It truly is amazing how easy it is to make fun of every character on this show. Examples…….
Jax – over acting tool that isn’t even close to as cool as he thinks, walks like an asshole
Gemma – dried up bitch that it’s finally okay to hate outright
Nero – overly Mexican peacekeeper with a closet full of cardigans and wife-beaters
Chibs – mumbling asshat
Bobby – sloppy mess that can just quit the club whenever he wants and then re-join
Juice – crying pussy
Unser – melty face cancer bitch
Wendy – junkie whoremouth
Abel – useless plot device with the acting skills of a spork
And I don’t hate this show in the least. Honestly, I look forward to this show more than any other thing on right now. Just maybe for other reasons than most.
Before I go, here’s the trailer for one of those films on my early list, VARSITY BLOOD. It looks amazing, and by that I mean – why did I put this on my list?

Don’t worry I(amongst others I pressume) will help you out. Don’t aks why, but for some reason over the past few months I’ve been watching a shitload(and I mean a SHITLOAD) of horror movies. Hell I’ve pretty much seen every horror released in the past half year. So I can give you a huge number of horror movies that aren’t great(it’s a fact most of them are bad) but at least watchable. Here are a couple:
At the Devil’s Door (the best I’ve seen this year so far by the director of the Pact)
the Pact 2
Chasing the Devil
the possession of michael king
the Den (streaming on netflix)
Lost Coast Tapes
Pontypool (streaming on netflix)
Area 407 (streaming on netflix)
Storage 24 (streaming on netflix)
None of these are great films mind you!(with the possibele exceptions of At the Devil’s Door and Pontypool) But they aren’t terrible either. I can give you lots more titles if you want, although eventually you probably will have to watch a couple of the terrible ones. (although if interested I can give you a huge list of older titles as well, if you haven’t seen many of those you might even be able to watch 101 horror movies that are passable at worst)

Try out: Martyrs, Frontier(s), Chained, The Sacrament, Thale, Wolf Creek 2, The Loved Ones, Black Rock, Omnivores, Absentia, The Pact, The Returned, Curse of Chucky, I Spit On Your Grave, Big Bad Wolves, Frankenstein’s Army, We Are What We Are, Resolution, The Ritual, Grabbers, Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, You’re Next, VHS 1 & 2, The Awakening, Maniac (remake or original), The Bay, Would You Rather, Oculus, Stake Land, Human Centipede 1 & 2, Bad Milo, and Cheap Thrills (just to name a few).
90% of these movies are quality Horror/Thriller flicks and are readily available through Netflix and other means. Your task is gonna be hard enough, might as well watch a couple good movies along the way.
