A Dose of Terror: Resolution
A DOSE OF TERROR
Resolution
by Steve Wood
Its movies like this which give me hope for the horror genre, and I’m not a fan of the “slow burn” style of horror, but this drew me in and kept me interested until the very end. The basic rundown is that Chris, a junkie, sent a video of himself to Michael. The video is basically him tripping on some kind of drug and just going nuts with a gun in the woods. Michael arrives and handcuffs Chris to a pipe, and so begins a harsh intervention.
I went into this blind, having not watched the trailer; I was surprised to find that this was basically a two man cast, with an insane amount of tension and moments of saying to myself “what the fuck is going on?” The plan is to stay there seven days, forcing Chris to quit cold turkey, but things don’t go as easy as Michael planned.
It seems as if both Chris and Michael have a mild version of cabin fever, or Chris’ paranoia from his drug habits are rubbing off on Michael. Either way, strange things happen – old pictures start showing up around the house, with each photo or video clip leading Michael to something else. But the strangest thing of all would be that Chris never sent any video to anyone, he doesn’t even have a camcorder to do so. On top of that, someone is recording the both of them inside Chris’ own house.
Irony is a funny thing; this movie is called Resolution, right? Well, that’s the only clue I’ll give as to what happens in the end. I haven’t been so aggravated yet completely satisfied with an ending, I literally got the chills and muttered “holy shit” to myself. I don’t want to spoil this, because it would be unfair to anyone wanting to check this out. Keep in mind this isn’t a violent film, while there is a quick bloody scene, everything else is purely cerebral, which is sometimes far scarier than violence and gore.

It’s a strange one, for sure, it does fall victim to the “why don’t you get the fuck out of there?!” chiche.
