Review: The Walking Dead #110
SPOILERS AHEAD!
Rick is finally ready to unleash his plan to rid his people of Negan and his terrorizing thugs once and for all. Trusting that Jesus has everything under control on the hilltop (he doesn’t – we’ll get to that) he gathers up some of his most trusted to pay a visit to the third party involved, The Kingdom.
I like the crack of exhaustion that is slowly creeping in on Michonne. The past couple issues have shown her lose some fight and even wonder about the strength of her bond with Rick. There was a long stretch where she just seemed to agree with everything he said. With Rick lying to her last issue we saw what might turn out to be the beginning of the end to their tag-team. By the end of this issue we also get to see her feminine side too as she lets her guard down while listening to Ezekiel wax poetic. Something tells me there’s going to be even more of a separation of the group in the coming weeks and that Michonne might be done following the Ricktatorship. Or she’ll die, whatever.
Other than Rick trying to cement plans with Ezekiel there’s not much else for our main group to do in this issue. And that’s why Jesus steals the show (that was a weird sentence to write). Jesus literally mounts his horse and sets off into the sunset to save the day. This, after he trusted Rick’s plans with the wrong dude. After telling Maggie to relay messages to him through Kal (the only other Asian guy around – coincidence? Racist) he realizes Kal is a giant asshole.
I feel Jesus is a better Rick than Rick at this point. Dude is catching spears in mid-air, coming up with life-saving lies to tell Conner and the rest Negan’s turds, and flips Kal back to the good guys with what I can only imagine is The Force. I love Jesus (whoa, this is getting awkward) and the fact he can handle himself while dealing with any and all of the survivor groups. He’s slapped the shit out of a walker or two too.
Overall this issue left me a little flat as I was expecting the war to, at least, get started. Negal is nowhere to be found which doesn’t allow my monthly blood boil, Carl and Andrea are non-existent, and Eugene’s moral issues with making the ammunition seem ridiculous. Go rub his nose in Glen’s corpse. That’ll teach ’em.
Issue 110 Rating 6/10

this issue sucked. It’s starting to be way to similar to the tv show where all they do is stand around and argue. ugh.

It’ll be very interesting to see how the next few issues play out. I too thought this one was going to bring the start of the war, or at least the negative outcome of telling Kal.
